Bbc News App For The Iphone & Ipad

BBC News is an app for the iPhone or iPad. This is a pretty basic little app that is intended to keep the user up to date with all the latest news headlines both locally and from around the world. This is a free app to download and comes in very handy if you are looking to find out whats going on around the world. I have been using this app for a few months now and find it very useful and its one that I use on a regular basis.

When you load the app up it takes you to the news homepage. On the homepage there are a collection of tiles with pictures and news stories attached to them. On the top row there is a section called Top Stories. These are all the biggest news headlines from around the world. There are three tiles displayed but you can slide along to reveal more tiles. Below this section there are stories from the World. These are some of the biggest headlines from around the globe and also some smaller news items that maybe dont make the headlines. Then there is a row of UK headlines and a row of Sports headlines. Each of these rows of tiles has three stories but you can slide along to reveal more tiles with more stories.

If you click on one of the story tiles then it takes you to a new page with all the details of the story you have selected. There are often a few pictures on this page as well as plenty of text telling you all about the story. Many of the major headlines also have videos that you can watch, this comes in very handy if you want a quick update of whats going on. From the pages with stories on you can either return to the homepage or you can move on to the next story and read about that.

As well as the four main sections there are also plenty of other sections you can gets the news from. This is a UK based app so there are headlines from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and of course England. There are also stories on things like fashion, arts, politics and a quite a few other things as well. These are very handy if you are looking for a specific news item. There is also an option at the bottom to submit a news story or a picture.

This app is very easy to use, the news stories are constantly being updated and I have always found all the news to be very accurate and professionally done. I have tried a few different news app and found this seems to be the best for ease of use and wide range of stories. Of course its a bonus that this is a free app as its one you can download and give a try without having to worry about cost. So if you are looking for all the latest news headlines from both the UK and around the rest of the world you really need look no further than the BBC News app.

Shaw Capital Management Scam Info: Don't fall for 'First Exposure: iPhone 5' Facebook scam - Business - Management

Shaw Capital Management Scam Info: Don't fall for 'First Exposure: iPhone 5' Facebook scam

by Elinor Mills

Facebook users are being duped into unwittingly spreading spam by clicking on what looks like a link to news entitled "First Exposure: iPhone 5."A version of the scam, exploiting peoples' interest in the next-generation iPhone, went around Facebook earlier this month, and it's back today with minor changes. The scam starts when you see someone in your social network comment on a link in a post that looks like it leads to a news story about the iPhone 5 at a Web address of "greatlakesnews.info." Clicking on the link takes you to a different Web page, which provides a captcha window where you're asked to verify a word, ostensibly to prove that you are not an automated bot.

Once you click to verify, a message is posted to your Facebook stream notifying all your friends that you commented on the item and providing them with the bogus iPhone 5 link, in a type of attack known as "clickjacking." Then you're asked to choose from a list of items that then lead to a survey which is really marketing, according to this M86 post.Clickjacking can be a problem on any Web site, but social networks are particularly susceptible because people share so many links. Facebook's advice to not click on strange links even if they are from friends would cut out many of the legitimate links people share on Facebook. It's good idea to try to avoid getting news from sources that aren't known news sites. But a big red flag is the captcha window--legitimate sites don't typically make you prove you're human to read a news item.

By Jamie Dunkley8:45PM BST 04 Sep 2011US deputy attorney general James Cole has written to the Swiss government demanding that detailed figures relating to tax evasion at Credit Suisse and nine other smaller Swiss banks are sent this week.In the letter, which was quoted by Swiss newspapers, Mr Cole demands that Switzerland deliver a significant number of client accounts, adding that US authorities are ready to test a Swiss offer to settle the dispute under existing law.A long-term tradition of secrecy has helped Switzerland build up a $2 trillion (1.2 trillion) offshore financial industry. However, the country has agreed to do more to help hunt tax cheats in recent years amid a global crackdown on tax havens following the financial crisis. The US is pushing for Switzerland to replicate the stance it took last year when it allowed UBS to bend bank secrecy rules and reveal the details of around 4,450 clients to avoid criminal charges. The Sonntagszeitung newspaper quoted Swiss sources close to the talks as saying that Washington is seeking details of all US clients with accounts worth at least $50,000 between 2002 and 2010, at banks including Credit Suisse, private bank Julius Baerand Wegelin as well as the Zurich and Basel cantonal banks.

Bradley Associates Info: Belgium agrees to share black money info with India - Business

The government is a step closer to tracing the secret bank accounts of Indians, especially diamond traders, in Belgium.

Under pressure from India and various global forums, Belgium has finally agreed to provide information held by its banks and financial institutions to India.

The move is likely to help the government track black money parked by Indians in Belgium - a huge diamond trading hub.

Antwerp in Belgium is the centre of the global diamond business and many families from Gujarat are involved in diamond trading there.

Earlier this year, the government had served notices on 17 Indians for allegedly stashing away money in secret bank accounts in the LGT Bank of Liechtenstein. Some of the biggest diamond traders from Gujarat reportedly comprised the list.

The Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) between India and Belgium, signed in 1993, provided for exchange of information if it was held by banks or financial institutions.

In its commentary on the OECD Model Convention, Belgium's stand till 2008 was it reserved the right not to include paragraphs on exchange of information held by banks.

Although this reservation was removed in 2010, Belgium continued to hold it would not share such information under its old treaties.

In April 2011, the Peer Review Group of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, of which India is a vice-chair, said some of the provisions of the OECD Model were not present in Belgium's treaties and recommended the country take measures to bring all its tax treaties to international standards.

Belgium is a member of global forum OECD.

Accordingly, Belgium amended its Income Tax Code to provide for exchange of information. Since India, as per domestic laws, is able to provide banking information to other countries, it was confirmed to Belgium that information held by Indian banks would be provided under the existing provisions of the DTAA.

Belgium then requested the Peer Review Group for the upgrade of its initial findings about some elements missing in the country's tax treaties. The group changed its recommendations but suggested Belgium continues to make changes in the article related to exchange of information.About Bradley Associates Madrid Local and International NewsBradley Associates Madrid Local and International News is the newest technology media news, world financial headlines with business and marketing local events, personal reviews on latest technology and gadgets - dedicated to obsessively profiling startups, reviewing new Internet products, stock market and breaking tech news.

Technology News in India - Technology

Since the time technology has come to inhabit our daily lives in a major way, there is no point in remaining blissfully ignorant about its constant evolution. Every day one comes across stray news regarding the launch of some revolutionary iPhone or the improvement of an existing line of laptops. However, often such news becomes difficult to track down to a credible source thereby making it impossible for interested customers to make further queries. Technology blogs are a great source of organized information. No wonder they have garnered so much popularity in the present times!

There are several advantages attached to such blogs. They are web pages that offer readers a free site where news about the latest innovations in technology are made available. Since the internet has already invaded almost every home and is at the disposal of people of every age and profession, it will not be right to state that such technology blogs would only be noticed by tech geeks.

Technology News

Google has been popularizing up its transportation search features for desktop and mobile, but now it is shifting into full on travel mode with its Hotel Finder experiment.

The Next Web reports that the utility is "designed to help users find the desired hotel." Easier said than done, of course, but maybe something that Google creates is just crazy enough to work.

Google's Hotel Finder (not to be confused with can find the ideal accommodation for a particular user based on a few different priorities, such as location and budget. For example, when searching for where to stay, the user can draw shapes around neighborhoods using a mouse rather than searching by individual addresses.

Other helpful tools include being able to compare hotels easily within the same browser tab featuring photos and reviews of different hotels, along with the option to keep a "shortlist" for ones that might catch a traveler's eye.

Again, Google's application the hotel Finder is still under experimental phase (and it might have that similar name to worry about), thus don't expect it to work so perfectly just yet. Additionally, it's only available for finding hotels in the United States at this time.

In related Google travel/transit news, Google has officially added the London Underground to its repertoire of information for public transit agencies. Info on transport for London includes over 18,000 bus stops and over 250 Underground stations. Note that the provided data refers to planning trips, getting directions, and general location information--not real-time alerts and schedules.

Nevertheless, it's a good start--especially if you're planning to attend the Summer Olympics in London next summer, which starts one year from yesterday.

Google today also announced the the Page Speed Service project for improving load times by up to 60 percent.

Mobile phones

PDA-enabled Mobile phones, more commonly known as smart phones do have a Digital Organiser, Excel, Word and Internet capabilities- all in one phone. Such devices even have integrated camera and a MP3 player. These smartphones does have large displays and allow you to write into it (after you learn the easy technique). The voice recognition capabilities are quite imminent in such devices. All of these and more features does make the phone bulkier and costlier but then these gizmos sure do separate the men from the boys.

Using your cell phone as a modem:

A user can connect to the Internet using your cell phone as a modem. For this your cell phone should support HSCSD(High Speed Circuit Switched Data). If the device supports HSCSD, you can connect to a laptop, desktop or a PDA, using infrared, data cable or Bluetooth and then dial your ISP connection. This method is useful if you want to check some urgent mails or access a site when on the go. The connectivity is slow and also is expensive as compared to a normal Internet connection using a modem. The consumer pays the ISP for the Internet hours and the cell phone service provider for the airtime charges. With active Internet connection, you can download a variety of groovy ringtones, logos, and graphics to jazz up your phone. If you are tired of the monophonic tones, polyphonic ringtones is the latest craze. All phones do not support poplyphonic ringtones, especially the old models. If your phone does, you can download a range of polyphonic ringtones from the Internet. What 's more, you can even acquire inform tion about current news, movies, stock markets, weather, forecasts, jokes etc. All this is just a click away from your phone and all for a nominal fee. Checking email, acquiring information about current news, movies, stock markets, weather etc. is just a click away from your mobile phone.

Digital cameras

Digital cameras are getting much compact and fully loaded with an array of features suitable for the common man as well as for the professionals. Since last year it has been noticed that a big change in the way different cameras have pushed to provide larger mega pixels. For a layman, it simply means that if a camera has larger mega pixels, it can be able to provide a larger size in print outputs.

With emerging technologies, there are cameras which are being developed where the image stills and videos can be directly uploaded via FTP with the built-in modem in the camera. There are even cameras which can be connected to a network through a LAN card in the camera. These days there are even wireless cards in a camera giving more connectivity power.
